Japanese and Korean food are the two most common cuisine being served in Indonesia (excluding Chinese food), so it’s pretty safe to say that I have been accustomed to both. I came back from Japan this February, thinking that I have found the country with the best cuisine in the world. But when I came back from South Korea last month, I’m glad to say that Korean food has exceeded 500% way above the expectation I had. I’m not saying that it is now the best cuisine I’ve found, but it was definitely the number one highlight of my trip.
Autumn is always magical, but even magic has its own level of amusement. When traveling Asia in search for autumn scenery, the ultimate choices were Japan and Korea – unquestionably. The decision landed to Korea simply because I haven’t been there before, and having heard reviews from some of my friends, I came there with a properly managed expectation. It did happen, that every minute of my eight days stay in Korea fully exceeds every expectation and standardized prejudice I have set prior. And since I came there to witness the beauty of the season, I’m happy to share with you the peak moment of amusement I experienced while I was there: visiting Nami Island.
Paris is where every tourist goes in France. Little do they know that less than two hours away from Paris they could find themselves in another town with a whole different vibe. Geographically, Paris is a part of a bigger region called Île-de-France. Most of the areas within Île-de-France are easily reachable from Paris by public transportation, making any one of them a perfect choice for a day trip for those looking for a short escape from the City of Lights.
Among the flood of choices, Provins was definitely the one for me.
Central & Eastern Europe have gained a tremendous boost in popularity this past decade. And among its many members, Czech Republic stood up high. Prague – its capital city, has served as the capital of the historic Bohemia for centuries. The city is also a major part of the World Heritage List. Closed and reserved for a significant era back in the days, Prague is now the place where tourists all around the world flock and stay. And all that is not for no reason.
When creating an itinerary for a trip, the first thing I always do is to check whether the country/city has specific areas that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. So when I plan to visit Austria during my Europe trip, Hallstatt easily became my number one priority. Hallstatt’s origin dates way back into the early Iron Age around 800 BC, which is known as the Hallstatt Era. Therefore, it is considered as the oldest inhabited village in Europe. However, the main reason why tourists flock in Hallstatt is the view of picturesque village on a rocky banks of the lake, along with lines of mountains behind it.
Being one of the most intriguing country in Europe as a travel destination, Switzerland was the first country I set my foot in as a part of my Europe trip. By this moment I’m writing this article, I’m on my way on leaving Switzerland to continue my exploration to Germany. Even right here in the suburbs, the beauty of Swiss’ summer landscape is still clearly visible, while taking in the form of broad farms and flocks of cows chewing on grass fields.
What kind of places do you visit when traveling to a new country? Beaches? Statues? Historical buildings? Or perhaps blending with the locals?
If you fancy the latter, then going to a festival is the one thing you should be doing when in Japan.
For Westerners, Cambodia is included by default on their must-visit list for touring Southeast Asia. This might not be the case among Asian travelers, who tend to visit more renowned and modern countries such as Japan and South Korea, or even Hong Kong – at least at the time of writing.
Where to go in Vietnam? Better yet – where to go in Ho Chi Minh City?
Some kilometers away from the city, are the kind of attractions to satisfy your lust towards the natural tropical sightings. Mekong Delta is the king of them all.
What first comes into your mind when you heard the word Thailand? To me, I immediately imagine myself lying on my back in a calm beach, all alone in a secluded island with crashing waves and birds chirping through the morning. Yes, it’s no longer a secret that Thailand is widely known for its gorgeous beaches evenly spread throughout the country’s coastline, making it one of the main attraction for travelers all over the world.
